The national office claims 9000 new members for this year alone, an increase from 11,184 to 20,170! While we as a county did not show a marked increase in membership, we do show a big increase in registered Libertarians from just under 2000 before this election year to a current 3374 registered Libertarians now in Ventura County. That is impressive. So even though we may not always see results happening in front of us, we need to believe that change is percolating behind the scenes. Add to that the many fine new contacts we made and volunteers we met during the campaign. There is big potential for us to become a larger, stronger county LP.
We’re also watching the stats for the two Oxnard City Council seats. Our member Aaron Starr is holding in the #2 slot after the incumbent. but no call has been made as provisional ballots are still being counted. We should know by Friday if we will see a second elected Libertarian in our county. Aaron, we hope for all the best for you. And thank you for running.
