To the Ventura Breeze: I’m with you. I think the Camarillo City Council voted for the prayer issue to be politically correct and had to be thrilled as punch to have a way out. Heck, we can’t even talk about religion among our families. Except for a generic benediction, how can we bring it into a public forum? I wonder about the motives of the proponents for prayer at meetings. Does it mean that someone who votes against it or abstains after it passes can be labeled a heathen? Do they believe it will help councilmembers make wiser decisions? Do they just want to break down the barriers between church and state? In any case it’s best to keep that delicate balance between private and public matters. We have enough political division in this country without adding religion. Susan Aquino, LPVC Member
