For some strange reason, California has not been in first place when it comes to positive marijuana legislation. But with the new election cycle coming up we have another chance to make it right. Currently there are nine marijuana initiatives hoping to get on the 2016 state ballot. The LPC, Libertarian Party of California Executive Committee has just endorsed one of them: the California Cannabis Hemp Initiative, or CCHI 2016. This initiative is showing enough steam to make it worthwhile supporting. It also presents marijuana legalization as a business proposition which will hopefully attract the attention of cash-strapped Californians and justify a yes vote from them. The following is from the CCHI website at www.CCHI2016.org. Go there to sign up and volunteer.
“California, the largest political unit in the USA and eighth largest global economy, can show the way to the future by decriminalizing the ultimate sustainable domestic resource— Cannabis. The California Hemp Act of 2016 creates funding for cannabis research, and for the development of new cannabis industries, creating millions of jobs with a new, truly green economy, with valuations potentially in the trillions of dollars. This vital natural resource Cannabis Hemp, which was made illegal under a false propaganda campaign in 1937, can provide multitudes of non-toxic products, perhaps most importantly bio based oil, energy, and plastics without the tragic loss of life, security concerns, and wars due to foreign dependence, or catastrophic toxic oil spills. This is the ultimate renewable resource, way more efficient than corn, soy, or anything else. It can also provide building materials, insulation and even plastics, paints, and varnishes that are green, biodegradable, and non-toxic. Hemp seeds are a super-food providing 17 different amino acids and providing omega 6 and 3 in the perfect 3-1 ratio. Hempseed oil contains the highest total essential fatty acids at 80% of total. It is so resilient and easy to grow that it still grows feral in all 50 states. Cannabis adds nutrients and improves soil as it grows. Like firewood and whale oil, the petrochemical industry has had a good run- they’ve made their billions and now have us on the edge of a dangerous ecological cliff. It’s time to replace their fossil fuel with renewable ‘carbon neutral’ fuels from plant resources. It’s time to replace their oil based plastics and synthetic fibers with renewable ‘carbon negative’ plant resources, specifically Cannabis, the one plant uniquely qualified to fit the need. It’s not enough to just allow our citizens the right to legally use cannabis as other state’s have done. With the passing of the California Cannabis Hemp Act of 2016, California will be the first state in the country to re-assert our Sovereign right to decriminalize the cannabis hemp plant and restore it to it’s historic place in our world as the earth’s #1 renewable natural resource. Our initiative is simple- make Cannabis Hemp 100% legal the way it used to be, and save our economy and our environment.” CCHI 2016 Team
