Ottavio's Italian Restaurant was the setting for our Quarterly Business Meeting last month. Nearly 20 were in attendance to hear midyear officer reports and plan upcoming events. But the main focus was our guest speaker, member Aaron Starr, who spoke of his attempts to move his local (Oxnard) City Council toward financial accountability. Aaron's efforts for the past few years have been so successful and so impressive that the LPVC Executive Committee voted to present him with a Certificate of Appreciation for putting Libertarian principles into action.
Aaron's call to activism inspired a few new members to volunteer for vacant committee chair positions. All in all, the evening, which included a fine meal and a multi-prize raffle, was well worthwhile. Our next quarterly business meeting will be held in early November.
