Annual Constitution Week Proclaimed

In line with federal requirements, the Ventura County Board of Education issued a Constitution Week Proclamation. A 2004 amendment mandates that all publicly funded educational institutions and all federal agencies  provide educational programming on the history of the American Constitution on that day

We feel the subject merits far more than one day to ensure a better educated electorate for the future.

“Whereas, the Constitution of the United States of America, the guardian document of our liberties, embodies the principles of limited government in a Republic dedicated to rule by law; and
“Whereas, September 17, 2017, marks the two hundred thirtieth anniversary of the framing off the Constitution of the United States of America by the Constitutional Convention; and
“Whereas, It is fitting and proper to accord official recognition to this magnificent document and its memorable anniversary, and to the patriotic celebrations which commemorate it; and
“Whereas, Public Law 915 guarantees the issuing of a proclamation each year by the President of the United States of America designating Sept 17 through 23 as Constitution Week,
“Now, Therefore, Be It Resolved, that the Ventura County Board of Education does hereby proclaim the week of September 17 through 23 as Constitution Week and encourages all local public schools, communities, and businesses, to support this occasion by participating in appropriate instructional activities honoring the freedoms guaranteed to us through this guardian-document of our liberties.”

“Adopted this 28th day of August, 2017
Dr. Ramon Flores, President
Ventura County Board of Education”
